Alberta - Intro
The start of a new series exploring Alberta. Over a five-day trip I tried to cram as much as I could in of an endlessly expansive province - from badlands to city parks to mysterious canyons to rehabilitated mining towns.

This past September, I flew into Calgary for a whirlwind five day trip.
That is obviously not enough time for a province where you can hike endless prairies in the morning, crawl over sculpted badlands in the afternoon and climb a mountain in the evening.
But to give you the tiniest taste of Alberta, we’ll be spending the next few weeks exploring the beauty of Dinosaur Provincial Park, and finding out what makes Badlands so bad.
Hunting for an embarrassingly common, but fascinating, bird in Calgary’s picturesque parks.
Chasing elk down the Bow river, and finding out how the fairy tale town of Canmore was once unrecognizable, and how it was saved.
So I hope you follow along for this narrow peek at the beauty and diversity in the wilds of Alberta.
